Talking to Inanimate Objects

There are times in my life when I talk to things.  Almost anything will do.  Most of those instances I will never tell you about (here’s a hint: in the car, in the kitchen).  However, there is a certain time in our lives when we show off our children doing the very thing we would never admit to.  So on that note, here is Sabrina talking to her blanket.  Its not exciting, but its pretty darn cute.

And just for fun, here’s a picture of Sabrina’s first time eating.  She is proving once again that she is a Brown and loves her food. She gobbled it up without hardly missing a drop.  May I remind you that she is only 5 months (almost), but has been showing signs of being ready for a few weeks.

Teething Troubles

014Every once in a while, you take a picture that seems to totally capture the moment.  This is one of those pictures.  Poor Sabrina isn’t a biter, so teething has been taking little while…let me tell you, we are both miserable in the middle of the night!
Look at those rolls!  Isn’t she delicious.  I call her my “down pillow” because she’s so squishy.  (Hopefully she grows out of that!)

So here’s so more fun pictures of Sabrina.  She’s finally big enough for her Bumbo seat and loves joining us at the table for dinner.  Of course she provides lots of entertainment.  Here she is showing off the “Brown tongue” (ie: chewing on your tongue while concentrating.  Come on…you know you all do it!)

Here she is looking for the toy that she dropped behind her.  We haven’t quite explained gravity yet.

Harford Fall Festival

018Our county had a little fair this weekend and the girls had a ton of fun.  Of course I was having so much fun watching them that I forgot to take pictures.
016
But at least I got one just before the horse ride!  Matt doesn’t understand how I could have forgotten to take a picture of them on their horses…He just doesn’t understand Mommy brain…and this is my third time around!

Isn’t there some kind of technical term for “I’m seriously losing more and more brain cells the longer I am a mommy and I’ve therefore turned into a complete ditz!”

Fishing Fun!

Matt’s brother Christopher came into town last weekend 005after a work conference in DC.  They had originally planned to go sightseeing and visit a few museums.  But if you know a Brown, you know that nothing is more fun than fishing.  Once Christopher heard how good fishing was around here, they changed their plans and went fishing two days straight and only came home when they caught their fishing limit.

006Believe it or not, this is Matt’s brother Christopher.  Yes, they look incredibly alike…to the point that my girls kept calling him “the boy that looks just like Daddy.”  Call me crazy, but I think Uncle Christopher rolls off the tongue a little smoother.

Further proof that at least one of my children is genetically related to me!

So my mom has been scanning pictures from our childhood into her computer and periodically emailing them to us kids.  Its a lot of fun to see.  But just today, my mom sent a picture of my first day of school, which would be almost exactly Sydney’s age.  So you have to admit that there is a slight resemblance…or am I just fooling myself again.  I always joke that if they didn’t come out of me I would doubt that they were truly mine, but maybe that’s not really the case. (Even though they really do look like 95% of their genes come from the Brown side!)

This is my first day of Kindergarten.

And here’s Sydney earlier this summer.  So we really don’t look that much alike, but there are some similarities…right?

But there’s still that 5% of my genes that’s lurking somewhere hidden in these other two.  They are definitely Matthew’s children.  No mailman accusations around here!

Yea, they’re definitely his.  But they sure are cute.

Itty Bitty Milestones

Well she did it!  Sabrina rolled over.  It feels like she is growing so quickly, and I don’t know if its because I’m so distracted that the milestones take me by surprise, or if she really is a quick learner.  Either way, she sure is cute!

She’s such a content little one that it didn’t even bother her to be stuck like this.  She just sucked on her fingers and hung out.

Sydney’s first day of school (8/31/2010)

Like every other mom out there, I was nervous for my little girl to start school.  I was so frazzled and nervous that morning that I didn’t even remember to take a picture of her getting on the bus.  But here she is getting off and loving it.

She has an amazing teacher, and is already learning so quickly.  I’m astounded by how quickly she is soaking up new concepts.

I have to say though, Sydney was nervous about starting school.  (She had a terrible preschool experience in New Jersey.)  However, she was finally convinced that school was okay when I told her she got to ride the bus, eat in the cafeteria, and play on the playground…every day!  You can tell what’s the most important to a 5-year old!!!
